I was drawing this in a cafe in Stratford when a guy from the 80s Portuguese hip-hop group ‘Black Company’ came up to me. He asked if he could take a photo of my doodles to send to his wife, stating “she’s not going to believe what this nutter sitting next to me is drawing”
Then he told me about G-culture in Portugal in the 80s and how you had to be tough and had to be a ‘G’ otherwise people would attack you.
In Lincoln, in the early 00s you had to be funny and know 5 dead baby jokes off by heart otherwise people would rip your underwear off or force you to ask your pregnant french teacher if she’s a virgin.
